What is the History of Native American Heritage Day?

Between 1912 and 1915, he actively campaigned for a National Native American Heritage Day, seeking to ensure Native American people received the acknowledgment they deserved.

In 1990, President George H. W. Bush officially designated the day after Thanksgiving as American Indian Heritage Day, thanks to legislation introduced by Congressman Joe Baca. November 28th was formally recognized as a day to celebrate the culture, history, and achievements of Native peoples. The initiative was backed by 184 federally recognized Native American tribes.
